XCMG Crane Excellently Completes Urgent Electric Circuit Repair in the Disaster-stricken Area
August 12, 2014
At 10:00 o’clock on the morning of August 7, Yunnan Earthquake Relief Command released a notice saying that power supply of the epicenter Longtoushan Township was suspended, and the power unit was in desperate need of one small-duty crane for its repair work. Without hesitation, XCMG Rescue Team deployed one QY12B.5 crane truck. Within the span from 11:00 a.m. to the night, XCMG crane never halted its step to complete the transshipment and hoisting operations.
While being interviewed in the phone, Bian Yong, director of XCMG Xuzhou Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd.’s Office in Yunnan, disclosed further details. On the morning of August 7, thanks to two days of urgent repair and traffic control, the road that links Ludian County with the epicenter Longtoushan Township had been basically cleared, and the Armed Police Force Traffic Troop decided to let pass small-scale crane trucks. Meanwhile, the Command required China Southern Power Grid to swiftly complete mounting of several telegraph poles and transformer devices in Longtoushan Township. In view of the severe road condition, China Southern Power Grid decided to enroll in one XCMG QY12B.5 crane truck, which had been waiting beyond the traffic control line. In no time, XCMG 12t crane arrived at the operation site for the urgent repair.
According to Lu Zhaobao, an on-spot service engineer of XCMG, the operation site features difficult conditions and narrow space, and even in some places there was no smooth road. As a result, it was impossible for the crane to unfold its outrigger normally, and operators had no choice but to put some sole timbers under the crane, as a way to maintain the crane’s stability and balance. In such a touch circumstance, XCMG crane, on the strength of its excellent driving and hoisting performances, hoisted nearly 20 telegraph poles in place one by one, assisted China Southern Power Grid in completing the urgent repair to electric circuit, and fulfilled its hoisting mission excellently, efficiently, and safely. That helped ensure the masses’ basic living electricity consumption in the disaster-stricken area.
In light of the Command’s requirements about road clearing, XCMG cranes were withdrawn from the disaster-stricken area overnight. Meanwhile, the crane helped unload disaster relief materials from two vehicles, as well as transferred by motorcycles on the mountain road. On the road leading to the Longtoushan Township of Ludian County, Yunnan Province, disaster relief materials urgently demanded by earthquake-stricken people of the epicenter were stockpiled on one side, and the path for small vehicles was delimited on the other side. Lots of volunteers rode the motorcycle to shuttle between Ludian and Longtoushan Township so as to transport materials or pick up rescue workers. Along the muddy mountain roads, volunteers and rescue workers had no choice but to follow previous traces to push forwards the motorcycle at a slow pace. Against this backdrop, XCMG 12t crane capitalized on its long boom to hoist motorcycles one by one and transferred them to the road section ahead while spanning over the muddy section. That helped rescue workers and volunteers save the rescue time.
XCMG crane’s excellence in completing the mission designated by the Command received unanimous recognition from armed police force and the on-spot masses. According to local command, XCMG crane is the first crane truck that was used in the disaster-stricken area’s rescue work since outbreak of the earthquake.
