SDLG donates to Yunnan village struck by earthquake
August 13, 2014SDLG and its local dealer YZCL have donated survival kits and drinking water to those struck by a 6.1-magnitude earthquake in southwest China that has displaced over 80,000 people.
On 3rd August 2014, an earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale hit the Yunnan province in southwest China with its epicenter in the poor county of Ludian. The death toll is reported to be over 600, with 12,000 homes destroyed. Situated 350km north of the province’s capital, Kunming, Ludian has lost important power and communication lines as well as access to clean water in many parts. A rescue operation was launched immediately, but poor infrastructure in the region has affected access to some parts.

SDLG’s Yunnan-based dealer, Yuxi Zhongxin Construction Ltd. (YZCL), hosted a fund-raising event among staff to support the families affected by the earthquake., YZCL is SDLG’s first and largest dealer in Yunnan Province and has established branches in eight cities across the region.

To support the dealer’s efforts, SDLG’s headquarters in Linyi, Shandong Province, has donated survival packs – containing drinking water, food and clothing – to remote villages in the affected area and has dispatched experienced local rescue workers to disseminate them. SDLG’s executive president, Yu Mengsheng, says: “Our thoughts are with the families who have lost their homes or family members in this natural disaster. SDLG is joining people from all over the country that have generously offered their support to the rescue efforts. By uniting together, we can help to rebuild the homeland of the Yunnan people.”
