March 12, 2019

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has appointed Scott Young to be vice president uptime and customer support for sales region Americas. The appointment becomes effective June 1, but the transition to the new position has already started.

Young will support both North and Latin America teams on developing and implementing projects and strategic plans aiming to increase machine uptime and customer support, including further developments of Volvo CE’s telematics program, ActiveCare Direct. He and his team will work together with Volvo CE’s dealer network to support the implementation of new technologies and new business models.

Previously based in Eskilstuna, Sweden, Young will now work from the Shippensburg, Pennsylvania-office, reporting to President Sales Region Americas Stephen Roy.

“We are very excited to have Scott Young joining our Americas team,” Roy said. “His extensive experience in the development of innovative solutions that boost efficiency on the job site and promote customer uptime will help us advance our customer support activities in the Americas, and enhance our strategy to provide the highest machine uptime in the industry.”

Young started working for Volvo CE in 2008. For the last few years, he has been directly involved in the company’s projects that developed and implemented new technologies, such as for electric and autonomous machines. In his most recent role as director of electromobility and automation, he led Volvo CE’s programs to develop technologies related to electromobility and automation, including technologies demonstrated in the company’s successful electric site project as well as the recent announcement on electric compact machines. He has also held roles as electromobility program manager, director of strategy and district business manager.

“I’m energized to join the Americas team and look forward to helping our customers in North and Latin America maximize uptime to improve their performance and return on investment,” Young said. “With the advancement of new technologies we are in a very exciting time in our industry, and I’m eager to support our dealers to deliver efficiency, profitability and customer satisfaction.”

Young holds a degree in civil engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and an Executive MBA from the University of Illinois.
