The project consists of two railways, one is the high-speed railway from baotou to huinong, the other is the high-speed railway from alashanbayanhaote to yinchuan. After the completion of the project, the high-speed railway will be connected between the cities in central and western Inner Mongolia and integrated into the national high-speed railway network. Up to now, four of the five railway projects invested and built by Inner Mongolia communications investment group have been put into operation, and the chifeng to beijing-shenyang high-speed rail connection project under construction is scheduled to be put into operation by the end of July 2020. The four railways in operation include the huzhang high-speed railway, which was put into operation at the same time as the beijing-zhangjiakou high-speed railway at the end of last year; the tongliao to beijing-shenyang high-speed railway, which was put into operation on December 29, 2018; the huzhune bullet train, which was put into operation at the end of 2017; and the ulanhot to baicheng to changchun bullet train, which was put into operation on July 22, 2017.
